From a perch at the top of the stairs I could watch the people in a candid way, there is at least a dozen paintings to be coxed from this vantage point with each passing hour. I sold my first painting since joining Daily Painters Gallery.
Just made a reservation to stay in Washington dc on the 21st so I can see the John Singer Sargent show at the Corcoran Gallery also will see the National Art Gallery and the Portrait Gallery. I'm going it alone so its just me and some of the worlds greatest art including this J.S.Sargent.
I'm going to be doing some limited palette work like this is one. So far lets just call this new painting my loose copy, I see several fixes that need applied.
I spend time looking for oil colors that I know I own and I spend time trying to read the tube which can be in a tiny foreign language so today I bought this bin from Sears that I will clearly label so each color can have a room with a view. Now I will spent more time painting and not rummaging for the elusive magenta or those feral umbers .
I had to keep telling myself that this is not 2 rhino's in the mud. This is an oil painting. I was forced to invent much of this work because the photo I worked from was grey on grey but it was great fun. The little fellow under big mama is our new baby at the zoo here in Tampa. ...SOLD...
Abstraction is enjoyable to me because it's more of a puzzle than realism and it brings in extra questions about what is happening in the painting, like life it's more of a mystery and I like that. In this work my question are is that a man or maybe minotaur in the background and why the red,I don't sense danger...abstraction..fun stuff. SOLD
I went to Epcot for my birthday on Sat. and took a candid photo of a girl waiting for her friend. I think if I had to make a choice to only paint one subject for the rest of my life it would be you ladies.
Another painting from my trip to Cozumel I had started this painting right away after my return but as is common lately I had some difficulties but I worked on it today enough to show the progress so far.
tampaartist@gmail.com This blog will hopefully chronicle my improvement as an artist. Art has always fascinated me, even in early childhood. I remember somewhere around the age of 4, carefully studying a pencil drawing that I had scribbled in the margins of the family dictionary. All through my school years my interest revolved around the visual arts. In college my major was in Printmaking and since that time I have enjoyed different facets of the industry from portrait painting to selling my etchings in Florida art shows. Today I am fortunate enough to have the opportunity to paint daily. From my studio then out to the world and back again with easel, canvas and brush in hand. It is my goal to become the best artist possible...or I should say it is my passion.
