Fair Maiden 8x10 oil on canvas

What started off as an oil sketch ended up being a slightly larger endeavor, I used a blue based palette  and I thought I would do this portrait with out a preliminary drawing, always learning -then forgetting -then learning again. The larger image  is the final painting ,after some glazing and a few corrections. $120 in this frame

Profile 8x16 oil on hardboard

I stained the board pink then laid down the medium darks added middle values and even though it is the first stage I throw some highlights for reference later ,about 10 hour drying time followed by a reddish brown glaze wiping away with a piece of bath towel then I reestablish the darks and lights ...a little detail here and there , DONE. Here are a couple photos of the painting before and during glazing .  SOLD

Jeremy Lipking as James Mcneill Whistler via William Merritt Chase 8x10 oil on panel

My longest title yet . I saw a 1885 William Merritt Chase portrait painting of Whistler and I knew that Lipking(a favorite contemporary artist) was a Whistler fan so just for fun why not merge it all together.... "Jeremy Lipking as James Mcneill Whistler via William Merritt Chase and David Larson Evans".
